Charlie Lee the creator of Litecoin left the company Coinbase to fully devote his time and energy to Litecoin. After the successful launch of SegWit and first transaction on 10th of May the developments continue with the Lightning Network. Another development is taking place at MIT and a countdown shows the time left when the new technology will be revealed. Reveal date is 1st of August 2017. This raised rumors about Charlie being Satoshi Nakamoto.
Satoshi being Litecoin founder and Bitcoin creator?
The rumors triggered an avalanche on social media where followers of Charlie started to speculated if he is also the creator of Bitcoin, Satoshi Nakamoto.
A post on the community platform Reddit a users gave some theories why Charlie is indeed the creator of Bitcoin and why he created Litecoin after Bitcoin.
The post of user Jaw709 mentions Charlie Lee’s Twitter name as one of the most convincing arguments. The Twitter account was created in 2008 and first used the name X, upon Litcoin’s creation the name changed into SatoshiLite. This change is somewhat of a key indication that he is associated with a Satoshi (possibly Satoshi Nakamoto).
The mysterious project countdown disclosed on it’s website that it is now a Student Group Project with non-commercial activities. Lee tweeted he has no clue what this project is and suggests it could be related tot MIT’s Lightning Program. In an follow-up tweet, he also suggested that it could be hoax made my a student in MIT. Time will tell about the MIT project as the revelation date is coming closer.
